The Eastside Progressives team is excited to announce that we will be partnering with the Northeast Dems (NED) action team this spring for Get Out the Vote canvassing for the spring elections. The NED team is our neighboring action team whose territory borders the area canvassed by the Eastside Progressives. We will be sharing their regular staging location at the East Madison Community Center at 8 Straubel Ct, near the Madison College Truax campus.
We are looking forward to working with NED to share talent, resources and camaraderie to host many energetic and busy canvasses this spring. This partnership will help us increase the number of volunteers ready to greet, check-in and train volunteers so that our canvassers are comfortable and confident as they go out to knock doors. Having a consistent location where we can launch canvasses is also a great benefit for drawing repeat volunteers.
The Wisconsin State Supreme Court race to elect Judge Chris Taylor is important for many reasons. The liberal majority in the Court now is slim. Democrats need a clear majority to protect the elections, reproductive rights and worker’s rights over the next few years. Additionally, electing Judge Taylor now will ensure a liberal majority in 2030 when the next round of redistricting occurs. Looking ahead to the fall midterms, the canvassing we do now will help us identify likely democratic voters to focus our efforts on reaching in the fall, and help us recruit new volunteers to join us canvassing later this year.
